Hilux / Prado / Hiace Turbocharger Electronic Actuator Fault

The Toyota D-4D Hilux, Landcruiser Prado and Hiace utilise a VNT (Variable Vane Turbocharger).

Instead of a regular Flap style waste gate, there is an Electronic Stepper Motor / Actuator bolted to the front housing of the turbocharger. This motor works by getting signals from the turbocharger ECU driver.

Most of the time the turbo steeper motor or ECU will fail and cause the vehicle to go in to limp mode, this is quite often misdiagnosed and just the turbocharger itself is replaced. We recommend getting the vehicle checked by a professional as misdiagnosis can end up causing you a lot of head aces and money.

If you have a faulty stepper motor/ Actuator, its always best to replace the whole turbocharger along with it as every turbocharger is flow tested and programmed individually and an un flow tested / programmed unit may not cause an engine light but can cause poor emissions, fuel consumption and engine wear due to un burnt fuels.

Here at Demon Pro Part, we supply the turbocharger replacements for Hilux 1KD-FTV, Landcruiser Prado and Hiace. All of our turbos comes with electronic actuator are flow tested and calibrated by the air flow machine to make sure they match the OE specifications.
